Java EE 7, what’s in it for me?

The latest version of the Java EE platform had three major goals:

  1. Improve developer productivity by introducing more annotations and removing boilerplate code to simplify integration with the platform. JMS 2 is the perfect example.
  2. Add first-class support for web standards, including:
    • New API to build WebSockets
    • New API to parse
    • Process and generate JSON
    • New Client API in JAX-RS 2 to invoke RESTful services
  3. To meet the enterprise demands, including:
    • Batch Processing API to build batch processing applications using all the capabilities of the platform itself.
    • Concurrency Utilities API provides you with asynchronous capabilities.
